Rapid Deployment in One of Earth’s Driest Deserts
Harsh environments are no problem for Nextpower’s high-quality solar construction
High in Chile’s remote Atacama Desert, the 69 MW Javiera Solar Power Plant delivers clean, renewable power to one of the world’s largest copper producers, showcasing how innovation can turn even the harshest of environments into platforms for solar success.
Working closely with EPC SunEdison, Nextpower applied lean construction practices for streamlining and reducing waste. Combining that with a product requiring fewer piers and minimal site preparation, the team was able to achieve faster installation, quicker commissioning, and a swift flip of the switch.
Ultimately, this efficient deployment saved 5,776 labor hours, eliminated the need for 123 miles of copper grounding wire, improved ground cover ratio, and reduced the need for site grading.
